Who I work with.
I can't pretend to think that I can work with all people of all ages for all the things... I can't and I don't. I am however trained in very specific areas related to trauma focused work. I can work with people for issues other than just trauma, such as anxiety and depression, however the focus of my training has been in treating traumatic experiences of children and adults.

Trauma Focused Treatment

I am a Certified EMDR Consultant and Provider, a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. What's this all mean? I am able to help process difficult events, whether they occurred 3 months ago or 3 years ago. Together we can explore different ways to help weaken the images, thoughts and feelings in a way that works for you. I have been trained in specific models to work through very recent traumas and experiences that may even be too difficult to talk about. Find out more about EMDR here.
Certified First Responder Counselor (CFRC)

I've completed an intensive 40+ hour course specifically focused on working with Law Enforcement and First Responders. The people that put their lives on the line for others are also usually the last to ask for help, which means they are most at risk for needing mental health support and not getting it. I've trained hundreds of Police Officers and First Responders in Mental Health First Aid and am able to provide trauma focused treatment in a group format. This is a particularly important intervention for when a traumatic event impacts the entire department. My experience with treating and training members of Law Enforcement, Fire Fighters, EMS, & Emergency Dispatch has given me the unique exposure to see the person behind the uniform. Check out the directory of CFRC providers here.

Somatic Healing Practices

Certified in advanced Somatic Practices, I am able to incorporate somatic movement, breathwork, and mindfulness in sessions which allows me to focus on the whole person and use different methods for grounding which keep my clients in the present moment. Building capacity for safety and internal awareness is foundational for good therapy. These practices teach how emotions and patterns can be held in the body and that we can learn to release anything that no longer fits. Enjoy this short practice from My Vinyasa Practice.
